T- bird model which I think never caught the attention it deserved among Rolex users and collectors.
I had been always fascinated with the connection of this watch with the celebrated air team Thunderbirds.
Probably because I witnessed their only visit to my Country around ends of 1950’s or early 1960’s when I was just a kid but I can still remember so well the thrill of viewing their show flying the then new and revolutionary F-100 Super Sabres in their awesome paint scheme.
Flying past Mach 1 was something very uncommon on those days and they left a lively impression on me.

And ref 6609 from 1956 gold case . Ref 6609 was the one actually issued to the Thunderbirds.
