Exploring Datai Bay, Langkawi, Malaysia
We have been spending a few days at the wonderful Datai hotel on the island of Langkawi in Malaysia. In short, it’s a tropical paradise and the Explorer II seems the right tool for the job!
The hotel is situated on Datai Bay where you can sit on the beach in Malaysia and look across the Malacca Strait to islands belonging to Thailand.
One of the main attractions of the hotel is that it’s situated in a rainforest that has been there for 10 million years. When the owners built the hotel they wanted to minimise its impact on the landscape and the result is that you can’t really see the hotel from the beach.
The main hotel complex is up a hill within the rainforest, with assorted villas and other buildings also within the forest.
The downside of being in a rainforest is that some of the local residents are quite wild!
