Design flaw president bracelet?

After wearing my new DD40 for a couple of days I realized today some small marks on the first polished center link after the clasps closure mechanism. I realized that this is due to the fact that the bracelet can bend inwards (e.g. when taking it off, putting it down, ...) and that then the crown (on the clasp) pokes into the first link with its top. As the platinum bracelet is heavy there is enough force to generate a mark.

I find this strange as the bracelet has been produced for so many decades. Has anyone else experienced this issue with a president bracelet? I am not troubled with dings and scratches as watches are to be worn and can be polished - I was simply surprised to realize this obvious handling issue.
