I felt like they could've chosen an different person unless tudor came out with a different collection line...

Tudor has enough brand awareness and equity, I don't see why they need such a move. Just being themselves and keeping producing fantastic watches at very reasonable prices, that's it! Why throw budget on Beckham or Lady Gaga when you can use the money to ...
Those two probably create brand awareness at a younger demographic (non collectors) and get them more cash.

JCB built Hublot from scratch, I totally understand why he needed brand ambassadors at that time for a new unknown brand - that was right move!
But again, TUDOR doesn't need this...of risking existing equity to please a new generation. thus of course I can't fire JCB 😜, but whoever in marketing department of Rolex shall be fired 🙈🙈🙈
The risk is you find 10% new users and alieanate 50% of existing.
But then again the brand is not expecting the old user to be a repeat customer. A gamble on thier part that risks to dilute the brands tool vs fashion/fad.

I guess it is hard to do meaningful ads for luxury products like a Patek, but I fully agree, nobody needs that image of LaLa land family happiness. The reality I'm sure looks very different.

Aquanaut is not rugged. Any aquanaut owner knows very well that it scratches so easily even at a sneeze. It has the same delicate movement as many other PP but housed in a slightly stronger case.

If everybody here was attacking the idea of brand ambassadors I could get it.
But once you accept the idea of them, or advertising at all, who's to say who should be chosen as an ambassador? Lady Gaga makes as much sense, or more, as anybody else. She'll sell watches. And what is with the hate for her here?
