A Tudor Submariner 7924 with an underline service dial and hands. Good or Bad?
This is a question which will appear more and more often on the watch foras, about vintage watches.
Especially when they are quite rare, such as the Tudor 7924. We can safely say that less than 1000 were made. With time passing, watches in 100 per 100 original condition are tougher to find.
The bezels are fragile, need to be replaced and quite often the dials ans hands didn't survive to time.
Here is a Tudor 7924 which is pretty alluring, but which come with the bezel of a 1665 ( which is not a bad choice ), and with a service dial which is pretty nice and rare as it is underline. The hands are later ones, too.
Here, with mine on the left, with its correct dial and hands, but with the ghost bezel of a 1665;
So, good or bad, for you, to have such a watch with service dial and hands?

Then i have no idea about the value in all orginal vs period correct service parts vs full on frankenstein. Also iam far from an expert so i could be fooled and still like the look of it.

Do you know whether the replaced parts were inserted before or after the watch got out the AD? Some unsold 6538 were sold in the early sixties with tritium dials and hands already on!

If the choice is a dead watch vs original service parts i vote every day to have original Rolex service parts.
What many don’t realize the service parts are almost as rare as the original parts although they don’t command the same premium. And if by any luck you land on an original dial it will most likely cost two or three time the price of the watch with no dial...
