All 3 can be bought on the secondary market for almost the same price. So which one would you choose. 1. Patek Calatrava 5196R 2. Rolex Hulk 116610LV 3. ALS 1815 233.032 ...
because I predict it will be gone next year then the equation will be different but the other two....maybe will be relatively easier to get as time goes by....sorry to say but seems that’s the fact today. Plus, with your collection, you don’t need simple ...
for a dress watch certainly the lange if compared with this Patek. I would say the Rolex is a completely different category. I think the Lange has the best package here, best finishing and they show the movement, compare it with the 215 ps. Now the dial i...
I have money set aside waiting for Patek to make a 38/39mm Calatrava with small seconds and a properly-sized (say 28mm) manual movement and sapphire case-back. Until then Patek won’t get a cent from me. If my patience runs out I will get a VC Traditionell...
Surely of all companies that can justify having the best execution of their icons it must be Patek. Add offset blue center seconds and a brushed and polished white gold calatrava case to the movement for the one I want!
Yesterday i visited the Lange AD in beirut. The lady there is amazingly kind and simple. I tried the 1815 tourbillon and the 1815 chronograph and both are amazing. The sales lady is such a nice relaxed person who encourages you to try and touch the watche...
i just find this design extremely beautiful. To me, much more appealing than the Lange. Yes, the movement is small. Too small for the case. However it is a sturdy and very reliable movement. That is probably why Patek continues to use it. I’m thinking if ...
5196 for me as well and for the same reasons that you mention. For me 5196 carries the Calatrava DNA with perfection, classy classic but with a touch of modernity, and size is perfect for a dress watch. However for this model particularly, a timeless clas...
Rolex is a great watch, but the hype surrounding it is weird at best, plus it is a sport watch and thus not as elegant as the Lange. The 5196 is too classy imo
I know the other 2 are the most logical choice but I just can't live with their tiny size. If both were 40 mm I would go for the Patek. Lange is nice but the numbers printed on the dial look a bit cheap for such a nice watch, I prefer applied numbers
I tried the Calatrava 5196G and it was too small, like really small. For Rolex... Thanks, but I skip hyped models even though I find some to be pretty.
It seems we have a clear winner, the Lange 1815. Surprisingly we see more pictures of the Hulk on forums then of the Lange. Are we buying watching because of resale value or peer pressure and not because we like it so much? It is a sad evolution don't you...
And the movement is not too small compared to the case. Patek is, well, a patek. But the proportion and the lug width is a bit too wide. Rolex is great, but not that great for premium price you have to pay.
the proportions of the 5196 are off to me. It does not balance well at all on my wrist and I quickly tired of all of them in all metals which I had at one point or another.
