When will this "weirdness" end?
Right now walking at Beijing's center of shopping malls, entering every Rolex boutiques, and cannot find any single steel sport rolex, even the explorer 1 and 2. Only see two tone datejust, mostly ladies models with diamond. Many empty showcases...so sad ...

there are a lot of other intersting brands out there. I never beg for buying, if they don't want to sell I move on.

Why should I give the AD business when they can’t source the steel sport models I’d like to buy from them. You wind up developing loyalty to other supply sources who CAN supply the watches you want. Is this really good for Rolex’s business?

I walked into almost every Rolex AD, only to see 1 Milgauss in Green crystal + black dial...maybe that's I'm lucky It's the demand as they say.
The weirdness ends when they no longer sell over retail.
Conversely, does your stock broker sell you something under market price? Its somewhat the same if you think about it.
Personally, I don't buy because of desirability but because I actually like a watch.
Not being able to even buy the "bread and butter" Submariner anywhere can be an alienating experience for some people.

people usually laugh at this 'lack' of models, particularly steel models, and particularly from the brand that is the topic here as well as two from the so called trinity brands.... it's all about marketing and it's all about increase and control the dema...

But somehow the communication between us and Rolex suddenly become cold and uninspiring.

That's why I bought an Oyster perpetual, discreet and still has every Rolex quality. Also the explorer II , not everyman's watch.
