What I only know....

is...

This is the day Tudor "jumped the shark" for me.

 By: Bounce781 : August 28th, 2017-03:45
I lost a lot of respect for the brand now. What's next? Justin Bieber does Patek?

He is 'the next generation '

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : August 28th, 2017-04:04
So who knows? 😉

Hah. Totally.

 By: Bounce781 : August 28th, 2017-05:25
I'm waiting for him to start sporting a Roger Smith. Then I will change from this to stamp collecting

Be careful what you say

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : August 28th, 2017-06:11
Perhaps he already has two 😳😱

😂👍🏻 [nt]

I don't understand the marketing strategy there...

 By: sleepy_templar : August 28th, 2017-03:52
Tudor has enough brand awareness and equity, I don't see why they need such a move. Just being themselves and keeping producing fantastic watches at very reasonable prices, that's it! Why throw budget on Beckham or Lady Gaga when you can use the money to ...

Those two probably create brand awareness at a younger demographic (non collectors) and get them more cash.

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : August 28th, 2017-04:07
Pretty sure the marketing genius knows what he is doing.

I've been doing marketing for decades and now in a senior marketing role of a big corporate...

 By: sleepy_templar : August 28th, 2017-04:11
I will fire this guy who came out with this Best regards

It was JCB

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : August 28th, 2017-06:08
😱 you can't fire him 🤣🤣

JCB built Hublot from scratch, I totally understand why he needed brand ambassadors at that time for a new unknown brand - that was right move!

 By: sleepy_templar : August 28th, 2017-09:20
But again, TUDOR doesn't need this...of risking existing equity to please a new generation. thus of course I can't fire JCB 😜, but whoever in marketing department of Rolex shall be fired 🙈🙈🙈

The risk is you find 10% new users and alieanate 50% of existing.

 By: Bill : August 28th, 2017-08:10
But then again the brand is not expecting the old user to be a repeat customer. A gamble on thier part that risks to dilute the brands tool vs fashion/fad.

Completely agree...

 By: Questlove : August 28th, 2017-04:58
I dont understand the strategy here either... No correlation between the ambassador and the mode (black bay) or brand image i think... I felt like they could've chosen an different person unless tudor came out with a different collection line...

bla bla bla bla

.... Just bull@@@@@ Marketing is one of the ruin of the market. (no offence intended for those who makes it seriuosly, not only copy/paste) watches, cars, clothes.....just brands, logos, poor quality, poor design, high price tag. they are mimicking each o...

We share the same point of view quite often ;-)

 By: piccolochimico (aka dsgalaxy1) : August 28th, 2017-05:08
it's not the politically correctness (another big ruin of our age, besides marketing and stupidity) rather the lack of autenticity, perfect photos for perfect people of perfect families. You are not cheating old ladies with the your magical anti wrinkles,...

We can't forget, when we look at the PP ads, that the slogan is more than 20 years old now and the pictures... probably much older 😁

 By: Alkiro1 : August 28th, 2017-05:49
I think PP can sometimes conflate tradition and traditionalism. Best wishes Alkiro

So I guess, GP is really cool, who don't seem to spend any money on advertising ;)

 By: crown comfort : August 28th, 2017-05:02
I guess it is hard to do meaningful ads for luxury products like a Patek, but I fully agree, nobody needs that image of LaLa land family happiness. The reality I'm sure looks very different.

GP is advertising, almost for free!

 By: piccolochimico (aka dsgalaxy1) : August 28th, 2017-05:57
Simplicity (not Dufour) is the ultimate sophistication. A watch in a stunning, or simply normal, surrounding. Do you like the watch? Did that commercial arouse your curiosity? That's all. p.s. 1 at your LaLa land family i laughed out loud ))))))))))) p.s....

Another lie on the PP advert

 By: Poky : August 28th, 2017-06:28
Aquanaut is not rugged. Any aquanaut owner knows very well that it scratches so easily even at a sneeze. It has the same delicate movement as many other PP but housed in a slightly stronger case.

Sold my black bay 2 months ago. Was it...

a) the right timing, because it was in the pre-GAGA time b) too early, because second hand prices will now start to increase

Too early

I'm wearing my red bezel BB today Monday and have been wearing it during past week end. Now I learn its new nick name: "Lady Gaga"! Guess this nick is less attractive than "Steve Mc Queen Tudor" but... Do you think I should change my old taylor as well? C...

Block out the new nick name and adverts

 By: rnaden : August 28th, 2017-08:28
It's still a damn good looking watch

No, but you do need to get a Ga Ga strap ;-)

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : August 28th, 2017-10:09
they remain cool, gaga or no gaga!

Lol!! Will check the new Ga Ga strap...

 By: Subexplorer : August 28th, 2017-10:20
... on my next visit to a Tudor AD Arie! Cheers! Abel

Hahah

 By: watchme : August 28th, 2017-12:13
Guess you all are lady gaga watch wearers!!!!

If everybody here was attacking the idea of brand ambassadors I could get it.

 By: TheMadDruid : August 28th, 2017-14:16
But once you accept the idea of them, or advertising at all, who's to say who should be chosen as an ambassador? Lady Gaga makes as much sense, or more, as anybody else. She'll sell watches. And what is with the hate for her here?

agreed (+ I don't hate her at all)

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : August 28th, 2017-17:21
However I do wonder if she is calling her Black Bay her 'little monster' as well ;-)

Of course she is.

 By: TheMadDruid : August 29th, 2017-07:43
And the tricks it can do for her!!!
