So I attended the EV1 launch yesterday. Let me preface this write up by saying that I only got to handle it for a few minutes. I plan to borrow it at some point to get a more in depth feel. Let me also add a bit of context by sharing the advice that I gav...  

As a person who does not like traditional range finder cameras, because it takes too long for me to get everything in focus, this new Leica has the potential to be a game changer for me!

I think your main points are aligned with what I have been gathering so far without seeing it. I was quite excited at first but: A) the evf focus should have been a significant improvement on the RF - I doesn’t seem that it is. B) the price seems unfair c... 

I’m a little puzzled by the concept of this camera. One of the great benefits of the rangefinder is to be able to see subjects coming into your frame. Can you see that with the new EVF or is it just a full screen? I actually think the Q is an excellent pr... 

That said, I’ve become more accustomed to 28mm and I’d miss it as a travel camera for architecture and atmospheric shots. Plus, the crop works reasonably well although I would like the creamier bokeh that you get with a 50mm. I wouldn’t part with the Q28 ... 

For example these were taken with the Q2 in Macro mode. ...  

There’s a point at which it won’t be able to focus but the macro is designed to let you get close like for insects, flowers etc.

Macro mode lets you get 4-5 centimeters from the subject (compared to 30 centimeters when not in macro mode).

The resolution on the Q2 is amazing with 47MP and Q3 even more so with 60. If you want more macro/close up you can easily crop in and get whatever detail you’re looking for with extreme resolution. The Q camera are made for cropping. In fact there are set... 

.. much like how you’d see ‘em come into frame on a Q or with a visoflex on an M. If you disable focus peaking and magnification on the M EV1 and use distance scale focusing, it’s almost like shooting with an M. Granted that you’re looking through an EVF ... 

I’d like to get my hands on one. I find zone focusing pretty important because I tend to shoot a lot of people in the street. But it does require practice and planning the shot. The multi point focus in the Q (and I presume the new M) is sort of a proxy f...
