Good topic!

Made me think and realize I didn't have any plans!

Definitely, go out and shoot more.

And post more.

Work hangs in the balance so a lot of "what if" planning in my head.

From a gear perspective, I almost bought the new Dlux. I was going to be customer #1. But then the store didn't pull through at the aforementioned date. Interest waned. I passed on it when it finally came out. The store got a bit worried and sent me a PM. Was there anything wrong. I just said that there was nothing wrong with the product and everything to do with the nature of an impulse buy… you need to have it on the shelf when the customer is most willing to open his wallet. There's only a short window for these things so… if supply does not meet eager demand, wallet contraction may happen smile

So I might at some point reconsider buying one. I tried a Dlux6 and really loved using the macro at its closest focusing range. I liked the bokeh. I even tried shooting it in RAW which was surprisingly nice. Files are more flexible. If I get the new Dlux, it will be for macro and for usual p&s duties.

I'm also considering getting the new iMac 27" 5K Retina display. Lots of people say what for likening it to misguided arguments about megapixels and how you only need so much. I saw a side by side with a regular iMac. The latter isn't bad and without a point of comparison, you won't be able to tell that you may be missing out on a bit more detail. But then isn't that what being a Purist is all about in certain respects? Going for that one little unnoticeable thing that differentiates good from cool? Of course, the price difference translates to a new Dlux so I might dial down on that being-a-Purist bit wink

Reagrdless of how the what ifs go, shooting more is definitely in the agenda… just how much more and where remains to be seen!

Best,

Echi

When I got interested in watches and took a correspondence course... it was organized by Walt Odets. I must say it added a lot to my understanding and enjoyment... I could take the practice piece apart and put it back together, and worked on a few watches...

Thank you Casey ...

Marilyn Monroe's 1955 (New Year) Resolutions

 By: cshimokita : January 5th, 2015-15:28
Sorry you have to search for the Vanity Fair‎'s article, but they titled the write-up "Marilyn Monroe's 1955 Resolutions Put Your New Year's List to Shame"... I have the feeling that work always hangs in the balance and a good 3rd party activity might be ...

Travel more and eat better. And use my cameras to document my trip and my feast. This has been my goal since 2010, and I can't wait till the time I can take a few months off of my work and go roam the world. My goal is to be a nomad. And as in watch colle...

not side tract at all...

Must admit that it's more challenging to travel recent days, but to see it and/or touch it in person has it's own reward. My dad always said to travel when you're young... I think he meant young at heart ;) I always kept my old Pentax SPF in the glove com...

Only one thing

To take more pictures and get better at it, especially in dealing with light and reflections, both for landscapes and watches. No new gear, as I think I'm still not utilizing the features of my D-Lux 6 to its full extent.

can't go wrong with taking more pictures...

Getting better is a huge area ;). Marilyn Monroe's 1955 New Year Resolutions (as mentioned in a previous response above) were surprisingly specific... In her case it was getting better at acting by attending, paying attention, and practicing techniques fr...
