Hi Mike,
The light looks nice and you caught a good view of the head (called the Lost Profile). For tips, have a look at “100 Hands” by George Bridgeman to figure out how to catch her hands better.
And in terms of your distance from the subject, take either one step forward or one step back so you don’t clip the elbows at an awkward point.

Great photo that reminds me of the photographer I wish I could be. I’ve alway sucked at portraits, so I really appreciate seeing great images from others. Well done.

I kind of feel that the small dark square at the bottom right is a bit to attractive to the eye.

Aside from the model's face that's where my eye went. Maybe it's just that it's a strong geometric shape in an otherwise soft composition?

Interesting - my eye went to the seam on the opposite side of the photo

In a high key photograph the darkest area is what you see first. In a low key photograph, the lightest area or maybe red is what you see first. This is a pretty quick fix if you wanted to. Just lighten the dark area, which I did quick and dirty here. You ...
