How far would you go to get a watch?
I saw this 5711 in a shop which specialises in pre-owned watches. This is unworn, complete and only a month old. The price: 47% above the Patek's list price! I guess that means there are actually people willing to pay the huge mark up. Would you?
I personally would wait the three years.

ridiculous! Nautilus 5711 is a fantastic, yet a simple, watch and the retail price is high enough. I do not really believe on those 3 years waiting times. Just put your name to the list and call every now and then. I'm sure the watch will come faster. Bes...
47% markup is absurd.

Not sure where you are but if you put your name down at a few places I am fairly sure you can get it within a year. Put your name down, fire and forget The difference you save with a 47% markup you might as well put your name down for a Daytona-C as well
This seems too much.

This is quite subjective a matter though. If this is a dream watch for you and you have trouble finding one and you don't care about the 10K€ extra cost (roughly), then do what you like. But, otherwise, this is far too much as we are not talking about a l...

I am certainly not going to be paying for it at that price, someone else might. I still cannot believe the mark up. This is not a Patek AD, some independent shop. There must a be reason why it is 47% higher, people are probably paying for it. Absolute mad...
5711 ... now or later?

After reading your post and the others responses, it reminded me of similar events which happened with the 3940 and the 150th anniversary watches years ago when demographics actually meant something. That meaning a dealer in a specific location typically ...

I think part of the joy of owning a Patek is having to wait for it (even if it is three years) and purchasing the watch from an authorised dealer or the Salon. Many of us have been waiting as long for the 5131 enameled dial and we will continue preserveri...
