You're very young.  That is a statement of fact, not an insult.

Watches are marketed, through advertising campaigns in magazines, product placements in movies, endorsements by celebrities, placement of stores, the type of staff hired at boutiques and how they speak to clients, etc.

The wonderful thing about the internet is that it allows us to see through the marketing (or buy-in to it, but on a more informed basis) through the sharing of information.

What you refer to my "watch snob" persona is a considered deconstruction of watches and watch marketing, including demographic information, provided with a sense of humor that pokes fun at the "lifestyle" that watches purportedly imbue on their owners.

Sometimes if a person fits into a particular demographic (as you do, for the 19 year old that is "self made" and wants to spend 50k of his self made money on a gold lange but feels insecure about doing so because of how he might be perceived by others), he might find it insulted or take my comments personally.  I cant help that.  But I can assure you that the internet is not personal.

Based on the feedback in the threads e.g. "kudos for honesty" in this thread, and on private messages, I believe that this insight has value to the watch collecting community.
