the solid case back is standard on the 3940P, no sapphire back available. Regarding the dial of the platinum and WG, i had the opportunity at PP in Geneva to handle both models at the same time and the dials are exactly the same.

You are reasoning and making a lot of sense. The more posts I have read and the more research I have done, the more I feel, that deep down no other watch gives as much satisfaction as a top end Patek. Only IMHO, of course. A friend of mine who has handled...

The problem here, of course, is that everyone here has valid points. The 5970 has a totally different character to 3940. A different look, feel etc... How on earth does one choose between them??? It's difficult because none of these watches are essential ...
