Although I do not see myself as a Patek collector, rather a watch collector, here are my perspectives:
1. I like Pateks in two specific instances a) Nautilus as the most elegant luxury sports option and b) World timers as the most elegant and compatible ones for daily wear
2. Beyond these lines, I am not convinced by Patek, in the sense of its hype/reputation and I think there is a lot of marketing make-believe involved. I don't see the innovation neither the quality and effort found by other top-tier brands or indies
3. Beyond Patek, I have been focusing on
a) Vacheron, for the honesty and integral approach (design code, movements, dials, etc) of its Traditionnelle line
b) Blancpain, which I believe makes by a thousand miles the best divers in the world
c) JLC for all sorts of particular technical achievements and lines it often produces
d) indies such as Journe, Ferrier and Moser
All the very best,
Alex
