Totally unexpected and I was very pleasantly surprised !
After many months of anticipation and speculations, Cubitus was finally revealed.
The shape took many by surprise and there were a lot of comments, many, not too good, just like when Patek came out with the Pilot. I was quite surprise to read comments on Mr. GLau’s article on October 17th.
It took me a few takes to get used to the shape. However, as my father had taught me, one must see the watch in the metal before deciding.
Told my son that I like the P from the photos and he commissioned the 5822P birthday 🎂 with my figurine to surprise me which was very delicious 😋!
I went to an AD and tried the watches on my wrist and was smitten with 5822P and 5221/1AR because of the respective good heft and its new complications and lovely blend of steel and RG bracelet with the gorgeous blue dial. The shape is quite unique actually and fits my wrist well. Cubitus does have strong Patek DNA and I do like it a lot.
Now I just have to decide between the P and 1/AR ! Which one should I get ? Perhaps both but would that be an overkill ? Your thoughts please !

I think the Cubitus line is sportier versus the Nautilus line, it’s bigger, bolder, and imho a strap suits better to a sporty looking watch, also a new complication, the big date, so my choice would be the 5822P, but I have to say that I haven’t seen the ...

The 1AR fits well, not seeing a wristshot of the platinum Cubitus with the large date I can’t judge on how it looks on your wrist. The large date is a tempting new complication for a Patek.
The rose gold looks great on you.
It complements your skin tone beautifully and allows for an elegant stepped transition from dial to wrist. The white metal sits more starkly. Ultimately, go with what your heart says. More importantly: happy birthday! What a lovely gesture from your son. ...

I like the watch a lot but the cake is magnificent
If you ask - I say two tone has a better visual to hide the size.
