The reference 570 in yellow gold

Aug 19, 2022,05:45 AM

So here it is - a reference 570 Yellow Gold case with the stamp of Helvetia clearly visible

Short signature on the dial dates it to after 1948

Reference 27sc dates it to after 1949- the 12-120 and the 12-120 sc were phased out after 1949

Enamel signature dates it before around 1955 as after this date approx all dials were stamped with Patek Philippe rather than enamelled- this date is not exactly known

Dial is pretty special=pie pan dial with 3-6-9-12 numerals in gold which was used in the earlier models

Hands are leaf rather than Dauphine

Extract confirms early 1950's

And here are the pics!!

Those were the great days when PP hand finished their movements and did not cut corners to reduce costs (and increase production). Compared to today's mass-produced Calatravas.... Hopefully PP gets back to proper quality production for their Calarava mode...

Thatโ€™s why I tend to collect vintage

There are so many things to admire about this watch, starting with those leaf hands. And the blue second hand, so piquant among the other tones. Love it!

What a charming Calatrava ! All the ingredients for falling in loveโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
