Thanks Christian.

My strap is 3.5 mm and I think 16 mm is perfect.

After my hospital time I feel better than ever - I even stopped smoking over 3 months ago without planning to do that. Not so easy after 47 years of smoking and during the last years 2-3 packs per day. Cigarettes are cheap in Estonia...

I have paid my taxes to Estonia since 2009 and it is a 7-digit number. Still they did not take me to a hospital in Estonia even I was a permanent resident. Better not to express my feelings about that...

Anyhow, my wife decided to move to Finland and I will follow. We bought a nice house frim Helsinki; just some 50-70 m from the sea with a great scenery. On Friday we sold (my attorney signed) our house in Tallinn. Now my big problem is with the cars. Those are priced with a similar logic as in Denmark and Norway. The additional car tax for my Maranello Fiat would be over € 200,000 and for the V8 Cayenne around 100k. I will sell them and take with me just Targa 4GTS (around 60k taxes) and perhaps my older Cayenne. On Friday I ordered the new A6 Avant. So life is getting moremodest, taxes are three times Estonian taxes, food is costing more... But the schools are better for our daughter and fantastic health care is available if needed.

In the hospital in Greece, my MD told my wife that my changes to wake up next morning were about 50/50. Onay, I woke up and I am fully recovered. However, I understood in the hospital that in the life there are more important things than watches. Now I try to focus to those more important things.

However, I have my new 1/1 Patek Philippe on my wrist just now and I must admit that it feels bloody great. Even it is not the main thing of my life just now. Now I am focusing to the great portion they caaried to me in Mandarin Oriental SG.

Best, Kari

Inspiration needed - 5960 A - the strap question.

 By: ChristianDK : August 18th, 2018-12:06
So a lot of us own the 5960A. Some like the steel bracelet others don’t. But all of us have the opportunity to have fun and change the look with a strap. Could we make a thread where those of you who have found a strap post some pictures and tell us a lit...

My favourite topic

because we speak about my favourite watch. First of all, check from Patek's home page the exact distance between lugs and make the strap accordingly It was 21 or 22 mm plus 0.2 mm. Secondly, after the spring bars the strap should be extended 1 mm in order...

It would be againt the Geneva Agreement

to show it in ”social media” as the gentlemes’ agreement stipulates. So later but I do not know yet when. Best, Kari

Thank you, Kari!

Great input. You a definitely one of the most experienced on the forum in regards to this reference. Yours is really nice. I like that the scales are so big. It gives it a sportier look. You went for 16mm at the buckle. You don’t feel the strap tapers too...

Thanks Christian.

Life is not always easy, but seems that you are a master when it comes to recovery and face changes. I wish you the very best for the new stage!

I am so glad to hear that you are better

It sounds like you have been to the edge. I completely understand your priorities. Life is too short and family and health are the important tings. Watches and cars are just nice toys, in the end. Life in Helsinki is good, and the city is beautiful. I use...

Christian, Sea Horse is a great idea!

Have you tried their baltic herring; naturally with beer and Koskenkorva? We move to Jollas, it is in the end of Laajasalo or in Swedish Degerö. Welcome to visit Helsinki. Best, Kari

Sometimes I google the Baltic herring ... seriously....

Just to stare at the pictures. God, how I miss them. They are absolutely my favorites. With mashed potatoes and pees. And I miss ice cold Koskenkorva in those bright summer nights. Then sleep the hang-over away on the warm rocks by the water in Soumenlinn...

Kosmos,Elite and Salve. They compete every day who makes the best. Jollas is its own village in Laajasalo - just 3,000 inha inhabitants, around 1,000 houses and villas plus the same amount of yachts. Many beaches, a lot of nature and close to the city cen...

The tax issue gives you some benefit as well. Finland is like Norway in that aspect high tax, but great hospitals, schools etc for free. I have two questions regarding you PP 1/1 ; 1. Is it a platinum case? 2. Is it a MR? Hope you enjoy it and your move t...

1. Naturally 2. No. I can’t hear the MR. Best, Kari

May I ask the reason for the "embargo"?

 By: 1WatchMan : August 20th, 2018-14:46
I'm guessing that Patek "prefers" your 1/1 not to be known worldwide, but I can't find myself a solid reason for that.

I do.

 By: dr.kol : August 20th, 2018-22:39
They do not want to get a huge amount of special requests. They want to sell watches from the wide varriaty they produce. Anyhow, Patek did not ’order’ me not to show the watch but wished for that. And I will respect their wishes. In the end I got the wat...

Many thanks Kari for the explanation

I perfectly understand and fully respect your position. Enjoy your special piece in the best health!

My simple solution. Custom Patek strap.

 By: patekova : August 19th, 2018-12:26
21 by 16mm with Patek steel tang 16mm buckle. Preferred the strap not to be rounded and hug the case. IMHO the straight across strap better highlights the lugs. Best, Patekova ...

That looks awesome, Patekowa.

 By: ChristianDK : August 20th, 2018-00:07
I like that the strap comes so close to the case. The issue I was having, is due to the lugholes sitting so far from the case, the was this big gap between the strap and the case, that just looked wrong. Alas, this doesn’t seem to be a problem in your pic...

Looks great!

May I ask which steel tang buckle you use for this?

Straps

This ref looks and wears real good on the bracelet but it is always nice to explore options. After all changing to a strap makes it a very different watch and therefore a great way to add variety to the collection. Personally I have played around with qui...

Very helpful- thank you so much 😊 They are all great looking strap options but I particularly was impressed with the first ( is that color “Taupe”?) also the suede completely surprised me as a super alternative. That looks so good and really shows how far...

Thanks

It is not taupe, it is a lighter color than that. Not sure how to better describe it but it is labeled as a gray even though it has clear tones of brown. It works quite well against a summer tanned arm Personally I prefer to dress this piece down as it is...
