I have decided to ignore the norm and buy what I feel most comfortable with. The shape of the watch is a factor I am less concerned about than the size, the lugs and the weight of the watch. I am a bit strange because when I drive a car, I have to be at one with the car. Similarly, when I wear a watch, it has to be a part of me - I must not feel it is on my wrist but it is there nevertheless when I need it. The watch in whatever shape becomes an extension of me. Due to this unrealistic stringent requirement, my collection (if you can call it a collection! 
) is down to 2.45 watches, possibly the smallest in this forum
Seems like in Patek, "round" watches are definitely in and "form" watches are definitely out. My view is very different. What is your view?

Well, the round case is the perfect case.
So the form case is (and was) always a matter of taste, fashion, and "Zeitgeist"... 😉
Perfect while seeming to be an absolute is often subjective. Much as I like rectangles I like them as a variation.
If I could own only one watch I would opt for round.

My view is akin to yours, I would take a Cassa di Forma watch any day, the trouble is all the great ones are vintage, i would love Msr Stern to re- introduce the banana....

My next watch will not be round for sure.
I'm Looking towards an ellipse 3738j or g, 5124j gondolo or the 5711 Nauti. So no round watch for me if I decide to save up for a next great timepiece. Also very keen on a jlc reverso which is a bit more accesible.
It all depends on how is the watch. Rectangular, Tonneau, TV Cushion shaped, Square, Ovale or Round, it doesn't really matter for me. The watch is what really matters.

The Gondolo line is a very elegant timepiece.
Yours very lovely. But its best in very formal occasions. Like a tux or 3pc. Suit for evening wear. You would look funny wearing it with a sports jacket. My opinion only. Best wishes. Again you have a lovely watch. Geross.
