Shhhhhh... and drink the Kool Aid

Don't you know better than to ever question the eternal and instant-genius of Patek???
This shrunken numbers business was nothing less than a stupendous innovation in terms of design!!!
The dial of the 5140 is so cluttered, it is something patek would never have done in previous generations. Correct me if i am wrong.
If any other house had done it, they'd be flamed. Or ignored.
But when Patek does it... well... you get the idea.
On a more serious note... these shrunken numbers have always seemed to be a terrible afterthought, wedged and shoe-horned into a pre-existing design, IMO. "Come on youuuu, get IN THERE!"
I never understood it and still don't.
I owned two 3940's and miss them quite a lot actually. On the other hand, 3940's are 'too small' but they are still perfect and from that glorious era's end, when Patek was Patek...
Thierry seems to be able to sell a lot of watches, and seems to be more magnanimous, disarming, and open-hearted than his father and father's father... (publicly anyway) but he seems to not have an intuition as strong as theirs , in terms of that magical old Patek classic-eternal -contemporary design...
On the other hand, the new 5227 has a strong magnetism for me, anyway...
The current era seems to be defined by the Nautilus line's expansion and the annual calendar design popularized by the 5960; now seen in more and more Patek dials...
A worthy premise for a larger discussion...
