PP5146P for LF Galet Square?

 

This 5146P was the first high-end watch I bought (about 10 years ago). I don’t wear it as much as it deserves, and lately I’ve been considering selling it and instead buying the Laurent Ferrier Galet Square, which I find intriguing and unlike any other watch I own. I’d love the thoughts of this community because LF is a brand I’ve admired from afar but have never owned or even worn. In case it matters, I also have a VC cornes de vache in platinum, a PP Calatrava in yellow gold, ALS 1815 up/down in rose gold, Grand Seiko skyflake, a Sinn tool watch, and some vintage chronos. It’s true that if I sell the 5146, I’ll no longer have a calendar watch, but for reasons I can’t explain, that doesn’t seem to bother me, and I’d rather eventually have a perpetual anyway. Does anyone have the Galet Square and, if so, what do you think of it? I worry that it may wear a bit large for my smallish wrists. Thank you.

I like the 5146p for the complication. You have CdV chrono and this is an annual calendar. For LF, that watch is spectacular... I would go for the newly released retro model which I find stunning. I'd say that is definitely more unique/ special than the P...

I actually have worn the watch more recently but was using an old photo. But your point still stands - I don’t wear it enough. I do like the gray dial though.

I own a 5146G and am happy with it, and I especially like this gray dial, so I wouldn't buy a replacement for a watch from another manufacturer.

The 5146P is on the rarer side of this reference, it’s pert of the most prestigious house of horology, it’s a complication that was invented by Patek, an eternal classic. The LF is a nice watch, but it’s future is questionable( numerous financial issues),... 

This should probably be looked at as two separate decisions . . .

Do you want to move on from the Patek? If so, the Galet doesn’t seem to be comparable to it because it is not quite as dressy and does not share the same complications. It is a wonderful watch in its own right but it doesn’t exactly replace the annual cal...

I would do it. The LF has an awesome level of finishings, and it seems that the love affair with your Patek is over.

My LF GS boreal is awesome & if I have to choose one these days the new Antoine de Macedo Automne will be my choice ;-) Perfect to me on my 160mm wrist. Great move ++++ IMHO

The LF is an attractive piece with an incredibly finished movement, but make sure and try it on first as it may not wear as slim as your Patek.

If you don't wear something and could use the funds to get something else you want and WILL wear, I say go for it. LF makes some of the most amazing pieces out there today. TOP quality 🔥
