Patek Philippe

Lot´s of interesting ...

and good (to me) replies, which I apreciated to read. Thanks, to all!

To me there are just too many good reasons to collect, adore, admire, buy ... watches from Patek Philippe (and others) - no matter if we talk about modern or vintage. Different people may have different point of views and that should be OK, for us PuristS. Is it "better" to be a serious collector, an admirer, a connoisseur ... or simply someone who can afford it - nothing more nothing less. It is not up to me to judge, but for sure I like those with real passion for watches.

Excurse: Back in 1968 a "novice" to the world of serious watch collecting, someone from the US by the way, met with a group of dealers and experts in London. He showed them his comprehensive and impressive wish list. It was as if someone came into a gallery and said they were starting an art collection and they wanted a Michelangelo, a Cezanne, and a Rembrandt. Many thought he was nuts. Seven years after the "novice" amassed 1200 pieces of great historical importance and rarity - as a start. The gentlemans name was Atwood and I guess quite a few here have heard about him or at least his collection.

Cheers,
Oliver
