the 5070--all of them, will be giant, towering collector's pieces. I love the platinum version, yet I also see CL's point. The watch perhaps is a bit 'wrong' in its dimensions, and yes, the movement is too small for the case, technically, and even perhaps, aesthetically... but some things are greater than the sum of their parts, some things defy the rules that seem to apply to other things. I once had a long email correspondence with a fellow collector who we all know and who loves the Independents. He feels that Dufour, essentially, is overrated---(I disagree) and I told him, in some ways, it doesn't really matter what any individual 'thinks' about Dufour anymore, because Dufour has attained a Name like that of Patek or Ferrari or you name it. There are only a VERY few number of NAMES that connote THE BEST, without virtually any argument. Patek is one, rightly or wrongly, it doesn't matter. IT just IS. Same with the 5070's. You can criticize them. But bullets bounce off their chests. They are Patek Chronographs. Even the 'sinking' 5980 will rise again, pulled up by the life raft of the 5070's. Long way of saying, yeah, uh..... I think you can easily count on the 5070's being eternal classic and enduring pieces. Dare I say, 'duh'.
