Is there a watch that you miss ...
in the current Patek Philippe collection - something you dream about?
Even comprehensive collections can´t show everything, but this one I would more than appreciate:

The case and size of the Ref. 5078 (without the minute repeater slider) and a (chronometer) version of the caliber 260.
Maybe with a level of finishing, which we never saw before in a "simple" (modern) Patek Philippe
Black or white dial? Well, both would be even better but I would be more than happy to see at least one of them ...G or P, I can imagine both.
Reference number could be 5178 , to make it a real PuristS watch
Just a quick and dirty Photoshop picture for your imagination.
The current caliber 260, known from Ref. 5235.
The Ref. 5078 ...
.
.. on my wrist. The style, the size, the feel ... just perfect!
What do you have in mind? Maybe someone from PP is lurking. You never know ...
Oliver

... it is clear to see that my first watch was my father's Rolex Explorer 1016! Maybe not modern but classic, rather than oldfashioned. It does look very nice indeed! Thanks! Now I just need a good goldsmith...
I already have my Patek Dream Watch.

It is my 5110 P. An icon, a reference, a beauty, a jewel, an envouting watch. In my point of view, Patek cannot do betteer bthan this one, as their WT has no competitor, to this day. There is the PP WT, and, far away, the others. Which is not the case of ...
I would also go simple

A three hands is (for now :) ) more or less the watch I would do if I could. As it is inspired by Patek references, it has its place here. I like a lot your proposal, there was some very nice vintage Patek in that direction (thinking of 2551 for example) ...

If there is a watch that I miss, thus it's an affordable one so I won't talk about RM, Tourbillons and so on. I share your appeal for the 5235's caliber and I would select this engine too. But I think I would really consider the 5153 G case and dial I fin...

. . . and it goes something . . . [image courtesy winddown] . . . like this ref 1543 from the '40s, or, better yet, one of the black-dialed ref 1578s produced for General Motors in the '50s. Perhaps there's a cache of cal 12-400 movements in the attic ;-)...
Love the 1578 !

Though not so collected because as others of its middle size (34mm) , what a beautiful watch ! Oliver that's the one, photo thanks to Robert Maron. I would love to see a 1578 in a white metal but never found even a photo of one. ...
