Wonderful choices

I think both of these pieces would fit you very well, figuratively in terms of your horological tastes and appreciation, and literally in terms of your wrist.
You don't mention whether you would prefer the 5078P with white dial (enamel) or black dial (lacquer). My personal preference is the black dial, but hard to argue against white enamel. That dial on the 5078P, with the elongated Romans is classic, yet a style almost all its own in a subtle, but powerful way. White maybe a little more versatile, especially in combination with various straps, and enamel is enamel. Black more rare.
As you mention, the 3448 is more "poetic." And it has that vintage charm unlike the 5078P (at least not yet), especially in combination with the YG case. Also historically important as Patek's first automatic perpetual calendar.
For you I would probably suggest 3448. I think you will appreciate its poetry a little more than the 5078P. Even though a MR is at the head of the class in regard to complications, it also feels more like a watch to round out a collection, maybe a little less a stand-alone watch, and maybe less a watch to wear on a semi-regular basis.
