Patek Philippe

I had both...

but 5726 stayed a week or so and 3712 will stay forever.

The spirit of both Royal Oak and Nautilus originally was slimness. Indeed, 3712 is slim and 5726 is not.

However, for me the most important thing is that 3712 was the last Nautilus made with a two parts case. It is understandable that building such a case is expensive and starting from the next generation of Nautilus, 5711 and 5712, the cases of the watches were made in the conventional way from three parts. This means that the "ears" of the cases become decorations while those had a purpose still in 3712 working as hinges.

I have seen in so many forums comments that "3712 & 5712 are the same" and people just discuss about the minor differences of the layout of the dial. However, the charm of 3712 lies in the fact that this is the last Nautilus loyal to Genta's genius design of the case construction.

This watch will be with me till the end of my days.

Best, Kari
