First of all, congratulations on having to make such an interesting decision!
I've never been able to compare a 37xx with a 57xx, either the -11 or the -12 model, so I don't have an opinion there, although (as Kari points out) the purists seem to go for the older model because of the case construction. But I can say that the -12 captivates me in a way that the -26 doesn't. With this in mind, I would like to suggest you go for the 5726 and tell me where to find the 3712...but joking aside, don't think twice, just follow your heart and go for the 3712.
(I'm wavering between a 5711 and a 5712, or maybe a 3711/3712, as the next thing to drool over and possibly even as an 'exit watch'.)
