I purchased an original PP denim strap at the end of last year.
It looks fantastic on my 5712G — the combination of the grey dial and the blue denim works wonderfully.

Gunny straps is one of many aftermarket strap makers.
This particular denim strap is too distressed for my taste, but I do like the one that Patek makes.
I did a quick Google images search for…
“patek denim strap on 5712g” and saw a number of better pictures that will give you a better idea.
That’s exactly what I think is the reason.
There are much more interesting alternatives. I sent you a DM.
Different model
I think the original Patek denim strap should look great on a 5712. Have just received mine from the Singapore service centre for my 5110p to tone it down and I love it 🥰 ...
I know that this new strap is popular since the new reference was introduced...but...
(to me)....It's nowhere as elegant as pretty much "any" gator....

The 5712G is so underappreciated... I cannot fathom the price delta between this and the 5712/1R.
