I used to favor the combination you mention in general for all watches. To me it has changed. I often find the contrast is too stark in some of Patek and Lange black dials with white print. So more often I prefer the white dial version (in the case such a one exsists). BUT in this case I prefer it to the G. (So for me - to hell with the rules...!)

I did have the pleasure trying another one on and
it's simply perfection. The size convinced me over the 3970, which I do like a lot, bit the 5970 is overall better on the wrist.
I think they are both great watches......
......but i am with the 59 over the 39 for a number of reasons. The 5970 wears stunningly well on the wrist.

3970p is a beautiful Watch....

No I have not tried it on.
It does look thick and may sit high in the wrist. I however love the nostalgia associated with the 3970. Ultimately the watch is made to be worn on the wrist so I must try it on. Do you have experience with the 3970? Thanks for a great thread.
