I totally understand your Spartan wording choice. I think it is quite adequate for this reference. Some might like it as a kind of pure design and high cleanliness and other may feel it is too clean.
I belong to the second team but it is mainly because of the hands: I would have liked something a little warmer in term of hands.
I think this isn't Patek-like at all in the style and design but it is totally so in the spirit and doesn't look like something from another brand at all: that's how I would feel it is worthy of Patek.
I remember the 3969 you're talking about. I imagine the 5235 is even more difficult to get used to.
I think you summed-up the watch very well. This is what people will not like at all or a few will love deeply.

I saw and fell for this watch
Back in 2018, and it remains the best PP in my small collection of 7 PP. I love the movement, design and best of all, a regulator annual calendar, there are none on the market place for such configuration. It's a keeper for sure. Cheers to all
