Definitely a different group on Instagram compared to WPS...

Just different strokes for different folks. On Instagram it's much more about consumer culture (not to mention Instagram, like Facebook, can be very show-off like) and on WatchProSite we're much more technical. We used to be even more technical, but writing technical stuff is hard and isn't always appreciated. So many of our moderators are creating more easily digestible content. Sure, some of our members on WatchProSite do exhibit their very special collections. I realize I'm sounding somewhat biased in favor for WPS, but it is a fact that social media websites have a show off angle, as influencers etc. are paid to show off their amazing lifestyles and "purchases" (which are often marketing gifts) to gain views, likes, and followers to market themselves as more influential. Here, on WPS, there are no influencers, there is no financial prize... And furthermore, we have our Terms of Conduct, and our moderators promise not to take any gifts, and our moderators have to declare to our head moderator anything unusual including even expensive dinners by watch brands. Do they have ethics like that on Instagram? No... Instagram is a place where people want to become instantly famous, the shortcut. I'm not a fan of Instagram nor Facebook. I'm a Silicon Valley person, born and bred, and I still don't like it. Silicon Valley didn't create Facebook nor Instagram for themselves - the people here are computer nerds, less social than average, less caring about society and pop culture, and they are almost certainly not social climbers. The Silicon Valley created these platforms because they realized it was a niche that was not yet catered to and realized it could be profitable to mine data from it. The genius nerds finally beat the cool kids at their own game!
