I find that when I wear a perpetual, I experience the Whole of the dial, more so than the individual information, therefore I experience the balance of the dial, the harmonious subdials coming together artfully, as on your 5970. I find the 5140 overcrowded, overfull, so ruining that harmony...

I sold off my 5038 (same as 3940 but limited) as I thought it was too small so will be contemplating about acquiring one 5140 when it's offered in platinum.

3940 and 5140 -------NOT the SAME
The 5140 dial IS DIFFERENT. The date track has numerals that are squeeezed smaller in two places, I believe the 5 and 27, iirc? they are almost mashing up against the subdials at 9 and 3. Also, the day and month fonts are larger than 3940, so are inner-nu...

more people needing reading glasses, the 5140 is an improvement over the 3940. It may be more "cramped", but overall it's easier to actually read the dial.
