Before I got this, I was also thinking about the 5270R…it was on my list of 5270s to choose,
I thought that a grand complication should look grand, no need to hide like a white metal and I like RG too….too bad it was sold before I could get to it. Any version of the 5270 is nice, imo.

Have you had a chance to compare with an AP perpetual?
I feel Patek easily wins against modern AP perpetuals for the reasons you like your PCC. But I wonder about certain historical AP perpetuals…those were really something special. I do wonder how they measure up head to head.🤔

AP doesn’t feel I’m worthy of their watches and they can go kiss someone else’s A** I will not give my money to them 👎🏻 It might sound funny but if I will to own an AP, I will buy them at deep discounts from grey only, no BS.

It bugs me each time I see Grande Complication for a chrono, a perpetual calendar or both... A Grande Complication is the combination of at least a minute repeater ( Grande Sonnerie preferred ), at least a Chrono ( Rattrapante, better ) AND
A Perpetual Calendar and a Tourbillon... THAT is the definition of Grande Complication. I never understood why Patek felt the need to call the rest grande complication... Best, Nicolas

No it did not....it's a combination of any 3 of those criterias, if I read it correctly. A 5270 has:
Chronograph, Perpertual Calendar, Moonphase etc.

I had this discussion with JLC when they released the Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication, and they agreed that the term Grande Complication was a bit excessive...
We had private emails about that for the fun of it. And we fell on a classic definition which was at least a chrono, a perpetual calendar and a minute repeater. Some added a tourbillon.

For me the Patek PCC is the ultimate. Your 5207 clearly has some DNA from the 1518 which was the first serially introduced PCC of any manufacturer.

I saw that auction and man....that 5970R was a nice deal, and confirming 5970P being the more desirable version.
As I explained before, I will leave these 5270 for future generations to appreciate what their ancestor (me) has done for them )
