Patek Philippe

A friend had his 3919J on today in 33mm and he let me try it on. I was quite surprised it actually fit my wrist. I was concerned and really put off by the 33mm and avoided purchasing one online sight unseen, but now that I tried it, I may buy this or even...  

I’ve been thinking lately that if one must wear anachronistic wrist wear, why not do so in anachronistic sizes. Seriously, this looks fantastic on your wrist!

... you should create a development thread on all Pateks you bought and sold in the past 12-18 months as a warning to others... LOL... The 3919 looks good on you in terms of size. You gotta love the hobnail bezel and the Roman numerals though.

and watches like that look just fine on me. A lot of the larger watches (40mm+) look silly on a lot of people but it isn't polite to say so. Here's a little secret: there are a lot of stunning watches made in the last 40 years that are less than 38mm and ...

MDG made a comment that saying something was impolite. My follow-up point was simply the observation that whether someone finds something impolite or not is often more a function of how something is said, not what it is that is said. That is all. No thin ... 

I seem to have misinterpreted your remark. In the past we've had situations on this forum where any comment suggesting a contrary viewpoint, regardless of how civil in tone, was subject to rebuke. I've seen it often suggested that every non factual statem... 

The 3919 is a classic and looks terrific, and it's actually better proportioned for the movement that the 5119. Both references are extremely elegant though.

If you like that size, consider the 5026 as well. 33mm with the classic Calatrava case, but automatic with the 240 movement.

Nothing wrong with a 33mm watch on a 7 inch wrist. Afterall, the 3919 was in production for a long time until 2007 and wrist sizes have not suddenly grown since then even though fashion preferences have.. I have a 6.75 inch wrist and notice how the 31mm 3...  

It was discontinued in 1998 but I was fortunate to come across it 2 years ago when it was a special order for a client who cancelled their order.

Will be interesting to see what you will end up buying and selling.

Compared to this 3919 Uhr 5119 looks "modern", due to ist 36 mm.

like a sub-40mm Patek Philippe Dress Watch. I don’t unilaterally dislike all “Modern” Patek, but those smaller, subtle timepieces really speak to me. My wrist is 7 3/4” around and I have no problem wearing a 36mm Patek. Thanks for sharing the 3919. That’s... 

because it is the perfect size. Many people nowadays may prefer 40-42mm dress watches but to me they are really way too big for most people.

You are right, one has to try out before jumping to a conclusion. This watch fits and looks good on your wrist.
