Hi Guys, I'm a new member and a proud owner of a Patek 5550p. I purchased my watch couple months ago and could not be happier. It was a hard debate between that and a 5270G, and even though I liked the style of 5270 better, being 300 limited happened to b... 

... is it so hard to just buy what you like? Even if its a Tissot or an Omega with all my due respect for those brands. Sounds you do not like watches for what they are but for their worth. Sorry, you ask what we think about it, i think you are motivated ...

... just saying that what should split your decision is the one that makes your heart beat a little faster, not the one that might gain value. For that, you are better asking dealers and AD's, and even them cannot read the future. How to predict the futur...

It is obvious you are passionate about watches otherwise you wouldn't be spending considerable sums of money on Pateks. You come to this site for expertise opinions as an amateur watch collector, and you get shot down. Not everyone on this site is wealthy...

for a good explanation and no hard feelings of course. I have tried the 5270 on and absolutely loved it. I haven't had such a chance with 5970 though. I can only say I like them equally based on photos. I was originally going for 5270 but some pointed me ...

Which is the best sized for you. Compare both of the 3970, 5970 and 5270. Take time in looking at them, observing the dials and the movements, as well as the cases. Try them, taste them, feel them. Take your time, enjoy the doubt. Personalize your choice,... 

I would try to find a new 5070R. The line has been discontinued, but there are some new ones around. IMO the most beautiful PP on the market. The watch would also offer a stark contrast to your 5550P.

I paid 40% more than list price for my 5070G, definitely a bad investment, but I feel great when I wear it. It happens a couple o times a week. The G is the most understated so it hardly gets noticed by untrained eyes. Buy with your heart! in this way, yo...  

Not what you think is better investment. For me the answer was 3970P with silver dial. For you it might be any of the above!! Cheers,

Is finding an AD willing to take the watch out of the plastic, or worse, the box. Then there is the AD who has had no 5070, 5970, or 3970 to even look at- ever. And that includes NYC Patek. I got to hold the 5270 twice in the plastic. It looked a little f... 

Hi Joe, Geneva, Paris, London. In Patek's own Salons you are most likely to find the watch. Geneva is the best bet - also the cheapest. Best, Kari

Very well said. If one is soliciting advice on the investment potential of a particular piece they should probably direct their energy into developing a relationship with a dealer. This site is a pleasure to read because of the "love for watches" that exu... 

It's my opinion but discussion about investment potential sours the discussion.

although I have no idea of investment. Watch shouldn't be treated primarily as an investment tool.
