Problems, Problems
The problem here, of course, is that everyone here has valid points. The 5970 has a totally different character to 3940. A different look, feel etc... How on earth does one choose between them???
It's difficult because none of these watches are essential and the fulfill something beyond mere need. I will take some time to consider, but whatever I end up with, I am quite sure I shall enjoy it.
One further point, of course is that, if I were to buy a 3940 today it would still be some time before my I was delivered a 5970. In that time I don't think an 3940 would lose any appeal, were I to sell it.

the solid case back is standard on the 3940P, no sapphire back available. Regarding the dial of the platinum and WG, i had the opportunity at PP in Geneva to handle both models at the same time and the dials are exactly the same.
