Not true the current trend, Not true The waitlist, NOT SERIOUS NOTHING!!!.

 

When i was in Thailand is exactly tree times the normal price in Europe, its not true the current variations had a influence in this case, i advice to all another time the final price is MARKET PRICE, because the dealers knows all kind of situations, Rates, if you are in normal dealers waiting list, you must to wait normal 3 or 4 years, after that you can decide buy the watch before.
But seriously, i am asking directly to a OFFICIAL DEALERS IN THAILAND, in an Official Dealers PATEK, you can ask to any Patek Dealer in Europe, they receive one piece or two pieces and a year, and the question is, WHY in THAILAND, and SINGAPORE, they have more pieces in a year, and then they sell the watches 3 times more, its easy, one dealer in any little place in Europe, for exemple,  sell the watch directly to ASIA, becuase its the only reason, never pieces in dealers in Europe, and all the pieces are in ASIA market, in the same day in one Big mall in Bangkok, in 3 dealers all the collection about Nautilus, thats incredible, check the pics!!!

From 3 years ago i want to buy the new Nautilus 5980-1A, i am in the list of two Patek Shops, Paris and Geneva, in Geneva i was there 4 times, in all dealers in Spain, i ask and wait in 4 dealers too, from 3 years, after that i travel many times to Singap... 

Seriously, if there were reasonnable answers to your questions

There would not be any Grey market... This is sad, but true. The only thing you can do is choosing between 2 options: 1/ You badly want the watch and you patiently wait to get it ( It may be long, as in France, for example, you'll have to wait 4 or 5 year... 

Sometimes going gray market is better

you save money sometimes, even paying a premium--I have said this before. If you bought the 5980 last year at a crazy premium--say 15K over list--it would now be the same price as LIST plus tax... And you would now have the watch, at essentially, list pri... 

Sometimes, yes, of course, Mostel, but certainly not for the 5980

As the premium is much more important for a 5980 than for a 5960, well, at least 4 or 6 months ago... As for the 5980, if you pay this premium, you'll need at least 4 or 5 years to reach the retail. Best. Nicolas

Let's look at the 5980's list price... According to my info: It was 38000 CHF in 2006 Oct Now its list price is 40300 CHF. Let's do a simple Math: 40300/38000=> 6% increase. In your example, it was not the grey dealer helping you.... it was the currency h... 

I'm not 100% sure..

...so I could be barking up the wrong tree here, but hasn't the 5980 gone up by a lot more than 6% in the US over that same period?

The discussion is not about how many price increase in every year from 2006, but the watch is presented in Basel 2006, april, two years and half, more o less, the discussion is NO WATCHES IN OFFICIAL DEALERS IN EUROPE OR AMERICA, but YES WATCHES IN ASIA M...

Hi mini, I am not sure why you said there is no 5980 or other hard to find watch in US or EU. I personally don't know what is going on in EU, but as far as US, there have been plenty of shipment of 5712, 5980, 5960 to US. The ONLY reason you don't see the...

I visit in the same day 3 dealers, Pendulum, Cortina, and The Hour Glass, they have all Nautilus collection, market price of course, in that moment the market price is 3 times more than Switzerland, if you go to Patek Shop in Geneva, probably you wait 3 y...

I am sure that there are MANY people who did buy the 5980 from AD in Europe at list (or below). At least, the Boutiques will not charge any premium. It just happens that you are not one of those people and this makes you mad... In a free market, the shops... 

I am serious.... the 5980 was announced in Oct 2006....
