I always get a tingly feeling when i see that dial Mike. So beautiful and so unusual for Omega.
Have fun at the beach.

Tony,
I would have also guessed a ref 14159 from the tiny visible part of the lugs, but you have already given a "no" to Mike...
It is none of the 23XX ref., I can not remember any other ref. from around that time which included a 30 T2 SC Rg with this particular dial (this dial was used on steel models and on SS+ PG bezel models only - from what I have observed so far...)
So I think it might be a re-cased movement in a beautifully sculpted PG case...
Just a thought

Nice looking Eterna. Is there some significance in the model name? Does it show the date of introduction or something else.
Please tell us more.

hello Graham, and thanks for the interest.
the name derives from the first 100 year anniversary model, the Centenaire, which was released in 1956. the release of this model, designated the 61, is a total mystery to me. they made one more centenaire and called it the 71. i haven't done any research into the naming, although other eterna devotees have had good success in contacting the company with questions, i just haven't done it yet. the centenaires seem to have been the top of eternas line when they were released and this model features the cam micro regulation (pic not mine):
this was a new feature for eternas as the previous micro regulation was the whiplash seem on teh chronometers (pic mine this time):
Thanks for that. I have a very simple gold filled eterna-matic from 1964, but i have a lot of interest in their higher end pieces.

as you're on the omega forum. i have noticed that the really nice examples of eterna are going up, and have been steadily for a few years now. they'll never be as sought after as omega, of course, as the companies similarities only go so far, and the last development i read about wasn't thrilling. but you can still get some of the really wonderful models like the kon tiki super, the british military model or solid gold centenaires for reasonable sums. well, reasonable to folks here. until i decide to stop feeding my children, they will be objects of affectionate dreaming for me.
good luck, and i hope to see a few more eternas in your collection soon!
