Regarding size, since 39mm has generally been considered the sweet spot for AP, one would think that the 38mm pieces would be the next closest thing as opposed to 41mm pieces. You example certainly makes this case nicely 👌🏽
Before the 38mm ROC came out (and the 39mm Jumbo is unlikely allocation), i was debating between 37mm 15450 or 41mm 15400/15500 for the longest time. I think i could have pulled off both, but that small nagging thing in the back of my head: 37mm looked just a tad too small and the 41mm seemed just a tad too large. 38mm was a near perfect compromise in size. Having the chrono in all blue even the sub-dials was perfect!
Forget dimensions. That fits your wrist perfectly. If you ever part with this watch, you will lament your decision until you rectify your error in judgement. Enjoy that pinnacle of design and execution!! -John
The size and dial color of this Royal Oak Chronograph gives it a classic look.It does not scream bling at all. And, cherry on the cake, as a dear friend from AP told me, this iteration is the last of its kind at Audemars Piguet, featuring a sourced mouvement - from the Piguet family - in the spirit of old times at La Vallée de Joux. Nowadays every watch manufacture is racing for the full "in-house" label, thus isolating itself from the collaboration spirit that once brought the watchmaking industry to life. This piece is so modern, yet nostalgic.
Thank you! It is such an elegant sports watch (if a sports watch can be elegant LOL!). I am just glad that i was allocated my watch choice and glad that I found the perfect size in the 38mm
