Jaeger Lecoultre Polaris 50th Anniversary / Polaris Mariner Memovox.
A close up of these 2 watches, side by side, shows how different they are, in their respective characters.
At the point I think we can call them complementary.
The 50th Anniversary is a clear modern interpretation of the original, while the Mariner Memovox is rather a cool fiction. Close, but different.

I am more drawn to...
...the open hands and the splashes of orange...looks good in a sporty watch.
Well, here is a profile picture... Not that big... And there is an explanation for that. The sapphire and the back case are pretty thick.
I prefer the non Memovox version

I must admit to checking the non Memovox version more often then is probably healthy and may well add it to my small collection sooner rather than later as my first JLC. Besides the not small price difference between the two versions I also prefer the Black face over the Blue and also the full lumed hands over the skeleton hands to but that's just my taste so not right or wrong just my preference is all. I really like the older more vintage vibe form the black face and textures it uses as find it more pleasing to my eye plus I already have a blue faced sports watch with my Chopard LUC 2000 but they are both really good looking watches plus of course the Mariner versions offer an extra 100m of water resistance so IMO neither is a bad choice to make.

For me the 50th Anniversary is the classic. As you say a modern variant of the classic. The Mariner is good too, but for me the former is a classic.

As for the dial changes I think the latest version will speak to a different audience than the previous that is more classical.

I like the hands of the Anniversary more
I like the blue dial more (pending seeing one in person)
I think the white date works better on the blue dial
I like the orange accents on the blue
So, the Mariner wins my heart but it is not fairly priced.
Been busy this week! One fully I can get some shots in this weekend!
So far I love the wearability of this piece. On the spec sheet, one may think it’s too thick, but on my wrist, it felt comfortable. I am mostly a casual business attire guy, btw. The weight of it is also good. I love the lacquered dial. There’s a “wetness” to it. Like undried paint.
The alarm is also useful for me to remind my kid that the playtime is up. Hahahaha!

Looks very luxurious. Good looking watch indeed.
But I still prefer the 50th anniversary, because of the more sober, simple, and fully lumed hands.
