Nothing much to say except this is a brilliantly made black dial watch that works so well with every day wear, and is really comfortable and practical to wear. The black is also a very attractive shade, a lot to admire here.

Thanks, my friend. Not many manufacturers realize the importance of coherent color schemes. I'm glad this one didn't fail that test.
Fully agree - a white date background would've ruined it!
the other thing they got right was the case dimensions - a very restrained 39mm size with a svelte 9mm case. Only wish the bezel could be a hair slimmer and it would be perfect.

Congratulations on this fine arrival. I was struck by the watch when it debuted at SIHH, and I think it accomplished incredible impact with an economy of lines, tones, and details. This may be the coolest version of a modern-era JLC classic and a signature model for the manufacture. Wear it in great health!

A really superp, understated watch...
and I agree, I personally HATE white boxes - especially when a brand could have made or purchased at matching date disc and made the look "cleaner."
I can't wait until the rose gold version comes out!

Saw it at Heathrow the other day but then got distracted by a phone call and did not try it on in the end

I finally saw this watch in person...
It reminds me of how Pateks can sometimes be not particularly impressive, UNTIL they are on the wrist. I hope this level of candor is OK! But I remember seeing a 5070 wg in person years ago... comparing it to a Dato... and finding the Patek a silly joke. But then... on the wrist... far preferring the Patek. This is my long way of saying that I was not moved by this watch in and of itself, but on the wrist, it sings! Certain elements of it are not 'moving' but as a whole... lovely.

This is a watch that looks like a "watch". Nothing spectacular at first glance, except the deep black, but once it's on the wrist, it comes alive.
