Independent watchmaker, Roger Smith OBE took delivery of his new Speedmaster a couple of days ago. Good choice Roger ! Photo Credit: Roger Smith OBE ...

Must be the Co-axial calling...

If ever there were a compelling argument . . .

 By: Dr No : November 24th, 2021-23:36
. . . for any proposition, this would be it! Roger acquires a modern Speedy . . . kinda like Enzo getting a Civic. I've been weighing a vintage Speedy vs the current crop for a while now*. This slants the equation in favor of a new one. 🤔 * (in addition t...

I know little of cars so please humor me...

I can certainly appreciate the relationship between the co-ax Speed and Smith, but what does Enzo have in common with a Civic?

Wolfgang Puck is one of the most, if not . . .

. . . the most, famous chefs around. Where did he dine? At the Rainbow Bar and Grill, when the kitchen was run by Miguel Murillo. There can be no higher praise than the choice an expert acknowledged in his own field makes. If Ferrari drove a Honda, that w...

Thank you.

So there is no actual connection (like there is with Smith, the co-axel escapement, and it being in the new Speedy), just that if there was it would be high praise. My confusion came from thinking that there was a connection between Ferrari and the Civic ...

Let me help you, dear Dr

The new Speedmaster, especially the hesalite one, is very much a vintage watch you can wear every day without being too concerned.

Not sure which way the decision between a -74 and a 3861 will go . . .

 By: Dr No : November 25th, 2021-11:21
. . . but it's a see-saw battle! The outcome may come down price. A good -74 with stepped dial . . . [photo credit: unknown] . . . is going for about the same as a '21 hesalite. Art ...

I’m just waiting for the news …

…Buzz Aldrin gets his Roger Smith Series 4 ! ;-))

Headline: Enzo buys . . .

. . . a Bugatti.

Good analogy!

I got one with a Hesalite crystal. I blame you, Holdemchamp1225, and a few others who were the bad influence!

I’m still a member of team 1861.

I can’t fall in love with the coax speedy… for me it’s too different from the one used to go to the moon.

You could say that about …

Anything other than the 321.

I don't think this impugns Mr. Smith's good name, but...

 By: blau : November 25th, 2021-03:18
might there be, I dunno, *sentimental reasons* why he'd prefer the coaxial Speedy to the 1861?

I love all the speedmaster iterations and the new one has my interest...but...

 By: dkaleal : November 25th, 2021-12:53
having just purchased a 1861 a couple of years ago couldn't justify the new version so i went with the new nylon strap on the 1861 and absolutely love it!! -D- ...

Moonwatch discontinued??

 By: Svalleynick : November 26th, 2021-05:13
Did anyone hear or know why omega is discontinuing the Moonwatch, or is this fake news? Also has anyone had the Chrono button fall out? I have a 3861 and the chrono button just popped out. It has been in service for three months. It gets light daily use, ...

I have no inside information on this...

 By: blau : November 26th, 2021-13:44
But I would wager my left eye that Omega is not discontinuing the Moonwatch.

This rumour is pure nonsense.
