Seen in Vienna - In the Omega Boutique: Seamaster 300

Friends,

As you can imagine, we saw a lot of watches from the current production!

Since time was short, I had to zoom in on only a few…

One of them a personal favourite, the Omega Seamaster 300.

The vintage Omega Seamaster 300 is, IMO, one of the most elegant divers watches from that time (1957)!

What I like with the current version is that the elegance is still there.

Yes, the case has been modified into a modern size, 41mm (original 39 mm).

Due to that the bezel has become a tad wider (and also flatter).

The luminous material is super luminova and the dial is more to the grey than black compared with the original.

Still I find the modern interpretation very tasteful.

This is not a watch that tries to be a vintage, this is a watch that is modern but embraces its vintage heritage!

Many similarities, but not an exact copy…

Really like the large hands with the broad arrow and the big luminous areas.

The only “weak” point to me is the “dot” on the ceramic bezel.

Here I would have preferred a stronger marking, like on the original.

But on the plus side is the modern movement, the Omega Calibre 8400 with the Co-Axial escapement.
Antimagnetic up to 15,000 gauss.
Free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring, two barrels mounted in series and a power reserve of 60 hours.
Chronometer certified.

On the wrist very convincing!

A big thank you to the Vienna Omega Boutique for letting me play with this one.

Best
