I am very curious as to why the watch is mounted backwards or upside down if you will. The watch in that configuration is extremely bizarre. People have called them lefty but there is no evidence as such. Congratulations to the seller. ...

It is usually done by mistake when watchmakers trry to mount as a classic watch with the crown at 3.

It is a 180 degree turn. But can require a change to the date wheel. It happened to me with a highly qualified watch maker who did not pay attention and the did replace the date wheel. I had it all reversed.

Precisely. Date wheels for other references with the same movement, cal 1002, are . . .

. . . oriented 180º. A watchmaker has to specify the Ploprof reference number to obtain the correct part. Finding a Ploprof date wheel is difficult if not impossible thru third-party suppliers; inventory has pretty much dried up.

truly epic collection Bill [nt]

Missed it at an auction in Marseille 10 years ago, sold by the son of the diver.... Mounted correctly for an early piece

Fascinating! Have you seen other early Ploprofs in the same configuration, Jeff? . . .

. . . I personally haven't, but would like to know if some 'inverts' are correct. Intrigued, Art

From what I understand...

this is the original righty configuration and it was modified by Omega after the first test performed by divers, who said the crown hurted their left hand.

Too bad!
