i love the Omega OEM Ploprof style mesh bracelet. it is very strong, high quality as you would expect and looks superb on lots of different watches if you get a 20mm or 22mm version. however, it does have some problems. the first problem is its inability to be accurately sized. you can buy the 1 inch extension, but the clasp is only adjustable by a few mm so the chance of you having exactly the right sized wrist is pretty slim (or thick). the new ploprof bracelet has solved this problem with removable mesh look links, but it is only available in 24mm. its final fault is of course the price. i could never justify paying for an OEM mesh for my sm300's on the basis that it may fit me, but may not.
today i received a superb alternative in the post. i'm always on the lookout for good value good quality additions and have tried out a few mesh straps in the past which havent lived up to the look of the OEM. luckily these were only a few pounds each and can be used on other brands. the version i received today, as you will see in the pics, is the same style of loosely woven mesh to the OEM complete with the thick spring bars going through the end loops. the wire used is 1.2mm thick and each row of loops is made of 1 piece of wire, the strap is 4.6mm thick and in total weighs 69g so you can tell that it is a high quality item, but not so heavy as to make wearing it uncomfortable. now comes the best bit. this bracelet comes with 4 removable links and a heavy duty fliplock clasp with 4 pin hole adjustment so it can be made to fit anyones wrist as it adjusts from 195mm to 135mm. an extra bonus is that the removable links are attached using screw fittings rather than pins found in cheaper bracelets. i cant tell you the seller or the price, but needless to say it was a fraction of the price of an OEM version. ok, the clasp is different, but no different to 99% of the bracelets out there so shouldnt be an issue with anyone.
here are a couple of quick pics i took this morning. i love this bracelet and will be using it on lots of watches.
