I Don't Like the Dial
Sorry I just don't like the "cubed" dial. Omega has a penchant (some would say a compulsion) to issue variant-after-variant of its classic, basic models, all in the name of maximizing appeal (translation: "revenues"). I say leave well enough alone: the basic black matte dial of the base 8500 P.O., combined a liberal use of anti-reflective coating, creates a vivid clarity that few, if any, other dive watches possess. It remains the gold standard P.O. This model just strikes me as more of the same old Omega marketing schlock.
Omega needs to stop watering down the purity of its basic designs (including the P.O., the classic Seamaster....and the Speedmaster) if it ever is be seen in the same iconic light as Rolex. I know it's a bit controversial for me to say this, but this is an opinion that has been building in my head for 20 years (during which I owned, four, count 'em...4) Omega Seamaster/Planet Oceans over most of that time.....
Cheers

One of the reasons why I was unable to go beyond the speedy pro and the smp300. I used to like the Aqua Terra design. Simple enough to be a default go to watch but then they introduced that teck(?) dial design. Was the old original design too plain? I don...

I'd be embarrassed to be wearing a watch with 007 all over it. Don't get me wrong, big Bond fan, I just get sick of all the marketing bulls&^t, They put out so many of them that I don't think they'll be investments either.
