I've come across that line of speculation before, Abel. I believe there's some merit to it . . .
. . . but the notion that the name Ranchero - which means 'ranch hand' in Spanish - could lead to its almost immediate dismissal is difficult to fully credit. The Ranchero was especially popular in Scandinavia, and the American market was a substantial portion of Omega's customer base, so a tepid response in South America and Iberia doesn't necessarily follow.
Also, the Constellation line was given a different name in the American market for a long stretch before reverting, so Omega could've given the Ranchero a different name.
It's doubtful there's a document floating around Omega's corporate offices indicating a top-level decision to drop the Ranchero line giving the reason of its dubious name in Spanish.
