Omega

Globemaster - food for thought?

Understand that many think Globemaster is a bit of a mixture (pejoratively stated, a mash-up) of various historical Omega elements without a consistent historical antecedent, and therefore not desirable.

I tried one on (SS on bracelet, blue dial) at AD - sits on wrist nicely and has a cool, minimalist, modern presence - the fluted bezel subtle, not shouting and blingy like Rolex'.  The date wheel color matches the dial, minimizing its presence (I'd prefer not to have a date, but it's as subtle as it could be made).

Can we watch lovers evaluate a piece independently of brand history, as if it were the first piece from a new manufacturer, and say it's a it's a lovely piece that works on its own merits?

I'm on the fence about buying the Globemaster, in part because the reaction among purists has been so tepid, it will likely not hold value.

It's so much safer to buy a Speedmaster - but how many buy Speedmaster just because of that - it's safe?

Just food for thought and discussion -
