Exactly! And here's a quick and dirty mathematical exercise
Sep 07, 2018,09:44 AM
Hodinkee 10th Speedmaster=500 units x $6500=$3,250,000
Speedy Tuesday Ultraman=2,012 units x $7100=$14,285,200
Total=$17,535,200 for just two LE's in less than 6 months
And in terms of effort for them, Omega really only had to create new dials and hands for these LEs, plus the design and manufacture of the special packaging for each watch. The advertising is virtually all through the blogs/websites and social media so that's literally free. And finally, they already had customers waiting and lined up once the announcement was made.
The FOIS Speedmaster is the base watch for the Hodinkee LE and the regular production Moonwatch is the base for the Speedy Tuesday watch. Not too much investment or risk for them in producing the actual product.
If these Speedy LEs help keep Omega solvent as a company and gives customers what they want it's a win-win all around I say.
