As worn by NASA Astronaut Lt Col, (USAF) Edward H. White, when he became the first man to walk in space. The only modification to the Speedmaster for this incredible feat was the addition of a Velcro strap. 
Ed White died along with astronauts Virgil “Gus” Grissom and Roger B.Chaffe during prelaunch testing for the first crewed Apollo mission at Cape Canaveral on January 27, 1967.

Thank you for your reply. This watch is a personal favourite. Ed White was a great guy that had “The Right Stuff”. Anyone that has visited the site of the Apollo capsule fire at Kennedy cant help but be moved.

... as it was the most popular metal band in that era. Certainly Mr. White was a very special person, and he gave his life in that heroic era of discovery and dangerous flights trying to reach the Moon. Thank you for sharing your beautiful watch Captain! ...
